Ontario Employers — Big Changes Coming January 1, 2026

A reminder that starting January 1, 2026, every Ontario employer will need to follow the new Pay Transparency requirements under the Employment Standards Act (ESA).
If you post jobs online — this affects you.

Here’s what will now be mandatory on job postings:

Salary disclosure: Every posting must include compensation details. If you list a range, it can’t exceed $50,000 (e.g., $100K–$150K)

No more “Canadian experience required.” That language is officially off-limits.

AI disclosure: If artificial intelligence is used to screen or assess applicants, it must be stated in the job posting.

Existing position statement: Employers must disclose whether the posting is for an existing vacancy.

Post-interview communication: Within 45 days of the final interview, candidates must be informed whether a hiring decision has been made.

Transparency isn’t just encouraged anymore — it’s law.
Make sure your hiring process is updated before January 1, 2026.
